Today we’re talkin’ PaaS. Not platform as a service, silly. Peppers as a snack. I, along with the world, am crazy about these things. They’re crunchy, salty, not too hot, and always accompanied by a sexy dipping sauce. Shishito peppers are everywhere right now, and thanks to all that demand, you can find them at your local Trader Joe’s! Below find my recipe for the most irresistible party snack.


  • 6 oz package of shishito peppers

  • 1 tbsp veggie oil or neutral oil

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

  • 2 tsp nori furikake (rice seasoning that I also put on my avocado toast!) you can get it on Amazon or any Asian grocery store

  • 1/2 c cilantro lime ranch or your desired dipping sauce


  1. Heat the oil in a wok or skillet on high until the oil just begins to smoke

  2. Toss in the peppers and season them with the nori and sea salt

  3. Allow the peppers to get sizzly and charred in the skillet for 5 minutes (I know this seems like a long time but this is what you want, trust me!)

  4. After 5 minutes, give them a good toss in the skillet so they’re coated evenly and serve immediately with your dipping sauce.
